Two of the Far North region’s most dynamic music acts will grace the stage for International
Women’s Day events, as part of the Flame arts project.
Award-winning electronic duo, The Ironing Maidens, and sonic neo-futurists Tegan Koster
Project, are joining forces to kick off 2019 in style.
The Ironing Maidens put domestic labour, technology, and the history of women in electronic
music centre stage with their live electronic music show.
Ingeniously adapting real irons and ironing boards into electronic instruments to create
breakthrough music, The Ironing Maidens mix house beats with video projections and performance
to create a unique show.
“As if turning a cruel stereotype into a piece of art wasn’t enough, The Ironing Maidens are
rocking inventive sounds and inspirational girl power.” - MUSIC IS MY MUSE
They have toured Europe, playing Germany's famous Fusion Festival and The Performing
Arts Festival Berlin, have featured at Byron Bay's Falls Festival, and have just wowed
crowds at Woodford Folk Festival.
There is so much being celebrated at this event. Get ready for the Ironing Maidens new
single coming out for IWD who’s global slogan for this year is “Balance for Better”.
After dropping the cassingle ‘Its a Fun Life’ last year, Tegan Koster stirs the pot with her
new band and fresh brand of post-pop synth-rock.
The Tegan Koster Project combines classic synths, progressive, sweeping guitar lines,
considered beats and electronics, and bold, compelling vocals laced with satire, to create
the TKP sound.
Tegan Koster Project features legendary indigenous guitarist William ‘Biri’ Duffin, elusive
producer Hairbrain, and band leader Tegan Koster on vocals and synthesizer. TKP will be
dropping their new single ‘Medieval’ as part of the show.
This will be a truly danceable event, so bring your best electronic moves out of the 80’s
duffel bag in your cupboard and get ready to party Cairns!
